When you think of the word "culture" what is it that really springs to mind? Is it the art and architecture or do we think about how people dress, talk and behave. They may know everything there is to know about their country and its traditions, yet when it comes down to actually dating they seem to have no idea and make very little effort to learn more. In fact, there are quite a few Indians reading this right now saying "well she wasn't half bad." Well that may be true, but why leave it at that when you can get a whole lot better by being aware of certain cultural facts. Let's take a look at 7 things to keep in mind when dating a girl from India.

1. She practices Yoga

If you want to impress her then start practicing Yoga. You'll be amazed at how good you feel after only a couple of sessions. Not only will you feel great but your confidence levels will go through the roof. Plus you'll also get to see what a beautiful aura she has. If you practice Yoga together every day for 20 minutes then you'll soon find yourself becoming like best friends. She won't be able to resist you anymore!

2. You're dating a Bollywood actress

Bollywood movies are known for their over-the-top acting, dancing, costumes and special effects. However, it is the women who bring this stuff home in droves. These ladies are gorgeous and are usually blessed with long flowing hair and stunningly attractive bodies. Dating a Bollywood starlet doesn't necessarily mean you'll end up getting any action either. That said, if you treat her well and respect her boundaries then you shouldn't have too much trouble scoring dates with her. Just remember to ask permission before taking off her clothes.

3. Be prepared for an Indian wedding

You've probably heard of arranged marriages or matrimonies. Well those are the same thing except instead of waiting for a prince charming to sweep you off your feet, you wait for his parents to matchmake him for you. Once he's been found (by you) then you two are set to begin planning your wedding. Getting married in India is relatively quick and inexpensive compared to other countries. Expect to pay anywhere between $5,000-$15,000 depending on whether you choose a Hindu ceremony or a Christian service. A typical Indian reception will cost about $1,500 per person including alcohol.

4. Family comes first

This should go without saying, but I still hear stories about men who have dated girls from India only to discover that they care more about their families than they do about the guy. This goes back to respecting boundaries and knowing exactly where you stand. It's not the American custom to drop everything whenever you have a hankering for some romantic time with a man. So make it clear that you aren't interested in anything other than casual flings. Otherwise you may find yourself sitting alone at a table trying to figure out what happened while everyone else is having fun.

5. Kamasutra originated in India

The Kama Sutra is a book written by Vatsyayana which explains the various sexual positions used during sex. There are hundreds of variations and each position serves a specific purpose. Some positions stimulate vaginal penetration, others focus on clitoral stimulation and still others involve anal intercourse. All in all you'll become a master lover once you read this book. Don't worry guys...it's pretty tame and definitely not porn.

6. Cultural facts

It's absolutely fascinating watching an Indian woman undress. As far as I'm concerned there isn't anything hotter than seeing a woman's body slowly come apart in front of you. It's almost hypnotizing to watch and makes you realize that beauty truly does lie within the eye of the beholder. For instance, I've seen women whose skin looks like leather and yet they are incredibly sexy. On the flip side, some women have perfect bodies with firm breasts and taut thighs. Yet they lack all definition. And I've noticed that both types tend to wear tight fitting clothing. What's going on here? Why do some women look good and others look like they came straight out of central casting? I think it's due to genetics. Women in general are genetically programmed to attract men, hence the reason why so many men are obsessed with them. But it appears that nature sometimes takes a backseat and lets our minds decide what kind of woman we find interesting enough to date.

7. You've got to love Indian food

Since India has such a large population it means that there are lots of delicious dishes to eat. Many of them include spices and herbs that are native to the region. For example curry leaves are dried leaf buds that provide a unique flavor to curries. Curry powder consists of turmeric, coriander, cumin seeds and mustard seed blended together. Garam masala is a mixture of five different spices - cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg and black pepper. Turmeric is the main spice in curry powders and gives them their color. Spices are added to foods to enhance the taste and aroma. Since spices are bitter tasting it helps to mix them with something sweet. Curries are traditionally cooked in hot oil but modern methods use butter or ghee. One of the healthiest curries is vegetable curry made with fresh vegetables, yogurt and tamarind juice served with rice. Other popular dishes include palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, mughlai paratha, pani puri, kulcha, lassi, channa chaat, keema naan, gulab jamun etc. Try them all!
